![]() ![]() Anyone who reads our comments knows how incredibly annoying it is to see every Camelot article about actual game progress followed by a thread that dissolves into a sea of complaints about delinquent refunds and haranguing of CSE, and we understand that some of the angry backers have turned to straight up harassment and toxicity behind the scenes, which is never OK.īut we’re still baffled as to why some of those refunds still haven’t been processed and why company has been willing to burn all its hard-won reputation and goodwill over what appears to be a clerical problem. However, the ongoing refund situation has been a thorn in City State Entertainment’s side since even before 2020 as players on Reddit and in our own comments have sought the refunds they were promised, some for over a year. It’s also run some pretty impressive mass-battle tests in its now three-year-old beta one phase and is by all accounts still under development. Originally Kickstarted in 2013, it has seen multiple major delays, the founding of a second studio, and the announcement of a second game using its custom-built engine. Instead, expect old-school servers, where you can take pride in your Realm and your war-torn world.Dedicated readers of MassivelyOP already know that Camelot Unchained has become an MMO saddled with controversy over the last couple of years. This game won't be instanced, it won't have oversized weapons or pauldrons, and we're not into the “One server to rule them all!” thing. Andrew's primary focus is on the size and speed of battle, so the three mighty Realms can fight in a vast, open world with RvR conflict to match. We are building our own engine, designed to handle the demands of Camelot Unchained's epic RvR. If the world didn't run well, RvR would mean small-scale battles, and even those battles would look like stuttering slideshows on anything other than top-of-the-line gaming systems. Here's where co-founder Andrew Meggs works his magic. ![]() Drawing on ancient folklore from Arthur to Yggdrasil, the world is alive with strange creatures and stranger folk to meet but your story rarely includes treasure simply found by the roadside. You must win your Realm's trust, and earn the right to wield a mighty blade by equally mighty deeds. You must consult a master craftsman, who can create items as powerful as the harsh RvR world demands. There are no real-world money shops for your hero to take the easy path. In Camelot Unchained, a player-driven economy of shops and bazaars brings you into the immersive world. You live on, to rebuild and reconquer what remains. All the world was almost wiped out when the Veilstorms tore across the land, changing and breaking it apart. Your epic story does not require you to raid a dungeon day after day, hoping the right item will drop if you kill enough bosses: your story begins with survival. If you dare to explore, know this: even after death, a player's soul can haunt and hunt other adventurers. It is a truly twisted place, a dark abyss that lives and breathes evil. While dungeon raids are not part of your daily ritual, you can fall deep into The Depths™, a creation from the mind of studio co-founder Mark Jacobs, which draws inspiration from the mythos of H.R. You will see your choices change your fate.Ĭamelot Unchained is not just about the battle between three Realms it is a world filled with rich lore, ancient yet written anew. Everything you need to succeed in Camelot Unchained requires skill and effort, not an open wallet. ![]() Camelot Unchained never tries to monetize you, never slows down, and won't be “free-to-play.” We respect your commitment to a subscription-based game in return, you won't see thinly-veiled grabs for more money. Our RvR game puts the power of choice in your hands. Fight other players for resources or land, carefully coordinate attacks and sieges with your Realm, and write your tale in letters of fire for the tomes of history. Gain power through using abilities instead of grinding experience points, and become mighty through great skill. Every adventure becomes a part of the story, raising your Realm's power and influence through combat or crafting. ![]() Whether you choose the noble Arthurians, the mysterious Tuatha Dé Danann, or the fierce Vikings, every battle changes you. This is the story of how you became a legend. This is the story of how you chose one of the three Realms and carved your name in the blood of your enemies. ![]()
